Tia was founded by Matt and the team at Tia, drawing on years spent inside the education system: on school councils, with education departments, and across high-end independent and public schools.

In that time we saw the same thing everywhere. Education has become an industry, and it has stopped being about the individual student. Teachers, through no fault of their own, are forced to teach to the middle of the class. So part of the class gets left behind, and part of the class gets held back. The curriculum is fixed years in advance. You can know, three years ahead, exactly what a student will be taught on a given Thursday, regardless of their ability, their pace, or what they already know.

Too often, teaching means standing at the front of a room and talking at students, rather than showing them how any of it connects to their world. Tia does the opposite. It explains things through each student's actual interests and shows how they relate to real life, which is where real understanding comes from.

As a father of four, Matt has seen first-hand how differently each student learns, what works for one and falls flat for another. Tia was built on that idea: to shift the focus away from the industry of education and back to the student, their learning journey, and the way they learn best.

Traditional schooling isn't adaptive. The system is essentially still the one built in the 1800s. Tia exists to change that, built to match your student's ability, your student's pace, and the way your student learns. Not the average. Not the middle. Your student.
